Brush Your Teeth Properly Every Day

The global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic still ongoing, it is more important than ever to safeguard your health in whatever way you can. Michael McKeel, DMD and the staff at McKeel Family Dentistry encourage our Gresham patients to make sure to maintain a regular dental health routine at home. For the moment, our professional dental services are limited to emergency cases only. While Michael McKeel, DMD and his staff are only able to see patients for emergency dental procedures, please make sure you are taking care of your dental health at home.

Brushing Your Teeth – How To Do It Right

When it comes to brushing your teeth, there is a right way to do it. Gresham locals, follow this guide to make sure you are brushing correctly.

Brush Your Teeth Often

You should be brushing your teeth twice a day, every day, for two minutes at a time. Be sure to clean your tongue as well, because it can harbor bacteria.

Brush Your Teeth Correctly

Proper technique is important. Aim your toothbrush at a slight angle towards your gum line while moving in gentle, back-and-forth, circular motions. This assures you clean the area where your teeth meet your gums and just under your gumline. Be sure to brush all surfaces of your teeth – outer, inner, and chewing surfaces included.

Clean Your Toothbrush

After brushing, rinse your toothbrush with water and allow it to try from an upright position. Don’t store toothbrushes too closely together because of this risks cross-contamination.

When To Replace Your Toothbrush

Toothbrushes don’t last forever. They need to be replaced once every three months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed.
